Diaspora Dreams (2023)

Diaspora Dreams is a online art platform with the purpose of highlighting and supporting emerging artists of the Black and Asian diasporas in Scandinavia and worldwide.

It’s about having roots connected to places far away from your primary home, and the inticrate tapestry of emotions that can create within you. The duality between yearning for distant lands that you may be unfamiliar with, while navigating the realities of your current existence. Feelings of longing and loss and the dreams that mirror this sense of not quite belonging.

This project was created to be a space for all of these emotions. A space with room for the utopias, room to paint the perfect picture or show the inadequate, and everything in between. This resulted in a zine printed in physical copies, consisting of poetry, essays, photos and illustrations. Furthermore we made a one day art exhibition on the launch day of the zine in Huset, Copenhagen. Diaspora Dreams is an ongoing art project founded in 2023. Since then Diaspora Dreams have curated several exhibitions and is currently working on the next one, while building the online art platform.
